There seems to be a running trend of direct3D driven viewports with max users, as openGL seems to crash the application/system far more often.
Is this a hardware issue, or do you think there are inherent problems with the openGL architecture in max itself?

I've used openGL for some time and had frequent crashes and freezes. Ever since I moved to direct3d there hasn't been a problem.:shrug:

OpenGL works fine for me.

my max w/opengl tends to have a quick distorted snapshot of whatever was in the viewport last when i exited right after starting up. other than that it works fine so far

:scream: yeap me too, I usually got a ut2003 screenshot in each view :D when firing up max,,, last used opengl i guess
