I am not able to use 3d assets for this project, so I am having to use after effects.

I am looking to make a swirling smoke effect using after effects. I have 7.0 and just purchased Trapcode particular hoping that would help me out, but it seems like I am in need or a little direction.

GOAL: To make a swirling smoke effect like it is being blown around by an overhead fan of some sort. I don't need anything too thick or heavy, just somewhat of a mist/breeze effect.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I am fairly new to after effects.

This question seems to be asked a lot - there are so many ways to accomplish this; but here is a link to some files that you can adjust/tweak to achieve the look you need...
