View Full Version : UV Texturing Sub D
Daolohua CnC 02-06-2003, 08:59 PM I have my polygon proxy and sub-d surface in seperate layers (with a shader applied to the proxy)
Is there a way I could unwrap the proxy and have the uvs translate to the sub-d surface (and still make it look decent)
this is for animation purposes and animating a proxy is a lot faster than the sub d

I wonder which type of subd`s you are using.
Poly operator or "parametric".
For parametric you have Inherit UVs from Poly option.
When you switch to Polygon mode there is polyToSubdiv(n) node where under UVs you got three methods of UVs treatment.
Choose Inherit UVs from Poly.
When you switch back to Standard mode UVs will transfer to base level.

try this plugin: i use it and it rocks!:buttrock:
it has a great little toolset and its own floating options box: it basically creates a very user freindly way of using the sub d technique... the proxy model need never be used at all: if you uv map the base model the uvs are copied to the proxy. same goes for skeleton skinning: it really is a very good little plugin. comes with comprehensive instructions too. have fun!
it sets up all the relationships between the objects for you and provides a great set of options for the process. you can also destroy your subd mesh at any point (say if your puter is struggling) and then just reinitialise the plugin again to get it back! easy!
