Hi all,

This is my first post. I'm a newbie Lightwaver & this is my first model.

I know it's very, very basic but i'd like some opinions for improvements, as i'm featuring it in a short live action film.

I'm getting the Inside Lightwave book soon so i'm (hopefully) gonna learn more about modelling etc.

I see all your work on here & i feel i've got a lot of learning to do...

Steve :)

hmm, well it does need alot of detail, and it looks kind of strange, more like it belongs on the front of an even bigger ship. It always helps to plan it out, sketch out ideas n so forth, you can also think of how it would look aesthetically, and funtionally. Then when you get the basic shape down, think of medium details, and then smaller details. (tubes, cockpits, guns, engine parts, canisters) then the nuts n bolts for the panels. Stuff like that should help you tremendously. And yes 3d has a huge learning curver first with the app then with your creativity!!! You never stop learning ither. I hope that helps u with your current model and in the future !!!! :D

As well as what RiceManx said you need to decide what sort of creatures are meant to be piloting the thing. Human or otherwise? If human, how do they get into the ship? Does the cockpit glass swing open or is there a door underneath. The answer to that question dictates where the 'hinges' would be placed. How many in the crew, does the power plant need air intakes etc. etc.

Most of the time form definately follow's function. If you think along those lines then your inventions will look real.
