View Full Version : Blast Off!
ivanisavich 10-29-2006, 02:28 PM Hey guys and gals!
Just posting a little piece I finished up last night. I was inspired by an image I saw on conceptart.org, and overall this piece was mainly a compositing exercize.
Make time was about 8 hours, from modelling up to the final render. The spaceships/dock were rendered with Vray and the particles were rendered with the scanline renderer.
No footage was used...the environment is just 3 images mapped onto rough geometry (sunset, back-mountains, foreground-mountainside), and the camera move was then hand-animated.
Hope you enjoy!

Well, tyson, bro, you blasted me off here, my god that looks great.
The lighting and atmosphere is really good and to the point, I think the fact that you always add sound fx that adds tons to the whole thing just makes me speachless. I mean man, 8 hours? wow.
You rock, I liked it (good job with the particles)
:applause:

As always, your animation piece looks great! Do you create your own sound effects or use from other audio sources like the Web for example?

Thanks for the feedback guys!
Hey Norl,
I have a sound effects library that I've collected and added-to over the years that I get my sounds from :)
Btw...you can find the image I used as reference in this thread at conceptart.org

yet another cool piece from you...very nice. The sound as well as the camera's sensitivity and reaction to the elements flying by really make this piece top notch and bring the audience into the moment. My only crit is how the first two ships finally make it behind the front mountain. Their movement at the very end looks a lot like you just needed to get them off scene...such a small crit though...great work and only 8 hours...wow.
