1. It still looks like they are using the same models from Final Fantasy
2. The humans still look stilted and lack emotion
3. The effects are all still very FF like. If it wasn't tied to the Matrix it could easily be FF 2.
4. While the animation and effects are technically brilliant, it doesn't look like they have progressed much from FF. their color pallete, camera angles, lighting, it all still looks exactly like it did in FF.
The only thing that will save me from being underwhelmed like I was when I watched the FF movie is if the story is good. And since it doesnt look like much has changed, that's a big if.

i think it gives square pictures a chance to show some dirt...FF was a clean movie in alot of places, which i loved, and still do, but this shows that they can do dirty also, such as ripped shirts, dirty craft...etc.
this is the one reason i want to buy the animatrix dvd

I think I remember someone saying wayyyy back (around the time FF movie came out) that some of the team from that were rolling onto the Animatrix project... before Square were wound up in Hawaii.
Anybody any more info on the team?
from memory... I think I remember reading that Francisco Cortina who was lead character modeler on the FF movie went to PDI after finishing his work on the Animatrix?
/me digs up that old article....
Yea, he says he's at PDI now :)

The animatrix short was the last project to be done at Square USA in Hawaii before they closed shop. Most of the members of the studio have moved onto other projects in other studios around the world, from weta to pixar.

I heard about a young Blur studio guy who now works for Pixar and listens to Meshuggah ;) ... :buttrock:

Suppose I am in the minority, but, that wasn't all too impressive. Matter of fact, it was worse looking than FF. I hope the story does it a lot more justice than what I just saw.

I heard this is going to be shown as an opening short-film for Dreamcatcher. I think I'll by tickets just to see that on the big screen!

Would have to agree with Shade01, but it all still looks interesting.

that description has to be one the worst written articles that I have ever read. When your inability to write clearly undermines the simple task of telling a story, it becomes really hard to read.
it looks even better then the first 2
love it allready
