Hi all

I am work on modeling this small toy: a pig in an egg shape basket. Modeling the pig are very easy to me, but I have big problem when modeling the basket.

There are several feature of the basket: in the front view, you can see a egg shape curve (green); from side view, it looks like a exponential curve (red); from top view you can see a circle curve (blue); the cross-section of basket handle is also a circle (purple).

At first glance I thought the basket was easy to model. I create a big egg (blue) and a small egg (red) and use Boolean method the cut out the shape of the basket, but the result is no good: the front view shows a egg shape curve, however in side view, it is a S shape curve (not the exponential curve I want to create). I try change the proportion of the small egg and Boolean subtract again but no help.

I also tried 2-rail sweep but the result was unsatisfied.

Any better ways to model this basket?

Hammer.

Hey,

I'd box model that. Start with a regular box. Give it sub-divisions so you can extrude the walls up, then give it some more on opposite sides so you can extrude up the handles. Have them meet in the middle above and join them together. Apply a turbosmooth (MAX) or whatever, to smooth it out.

It's not something that I can really 'tell' you how to do. Check out some tutorials on box modeling?

Cheers :D

Hi gringer

Thanks for your suggestion. I know how to box modeling it. But I really like to know how to model it with NURBS.

By the way, you are Taiwaner too?! Nice to meet you.:)

Thanks.
