Hello Everybody:

I'm trying to create a material to apply to an object.

I want to use a the cool Nukei shader (for it's color and reflection) but I want to use an image (jpg) for the bump channel.

I thought I could solve it using the Layer shader but I can't access the cool shaders that I have in the Materials palette ( Nukei, cheen, danel, etc .)

How could I solve this .. or am I missing an option somewhere... ?( I didn't find a bump channel in the nukei shader either , thinking I could solve it there....

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

P.D. hope i was clear on the phrasing of the question...

Actually that would be using a howitzer to kill an anthill, as Nukei is more intended for its height 'fusing' qualities; you'd want Danel if all you wanted was the color/diffuse and reflection. But regardless neither is what you'll want if you have a bitmap image you want to use. All those former Bodhinut SLA volume shaders are purely procedural, which is to say created within the Cinema app. They don't accept bitmaps--they don't even give you a place to put them. You'd create bump using one of the procedural noise shaders.

For what you want you'd use a regular material with a Lumas channel shader, also left over from Bodhinut, in either color or luminance channel, and fresnel in the reflection channel to mimic what Danel or Nukei give you. Then load your bitmap into the bump just as you normally would.

Thanks Richard:

I'll give that a try.

Then I'm correct in assuming I can't incorporate any of the Bodhinut shaders inside the Layer shader..?

Correct, the volume shader can not be used instead of Channel shaders.
