View Full Version : How do i make creases?
hkbasravi 02-06-2003, 03:38 PM I'm trying to figure out how to make creases on a spherical object. I've seen it done before. Does anyone know which modifier does this?

in meshsmooth choose display control mesh and select a face or vert. then change the "crease".. don['t get it? I wrote it allll out for ya. ;)
I think what your looking for is meshsmooth. If you make a spheare with 15 segments (or some other low number) right click and covert it to edit poly. apply a methsmooth modifier and click the interations up to 2. go back the the edit poly in modifier stack. hit 2 on ur keyboard (subobject edge mode) and select an edge that runns horizontaly and click "loop". you should get a ring of selected edges around the spheare. scale this ring inwards half way into the object. now go back up to your methsmooth and find the "display control mesh" button and click it! up just a litttle way on the menu click the edge button (looks like a red triangle) now drag a selection box across the middle of ur spheare making sure to select all of thoese middle edges u scaled in. hold alt and deslect the others so now u just have the smaller inner ring. drag the "crease" slidder and vwalla!
hope it works out for ya!

There is also quite a bit of information on this subject in the sticky thread at the top of this forum named "Theoretical SUB-D".
Have a look....good stuff.
