This is just something inspired by a story I'm writing, it's the main character's two forms and their weapon. The sword is pretty much finished, but the character models are still early in development. I have no actual drawn concept for the characters, just the images I've imagined and some stuff I wrote down. Once the basic modeling is done, I'm going to model some clothing, armor and accessories, such as scabbards, belts and such. All crits are welcome, especially on the character models.

The texture on the hilt of the sword is dark and hard to read. The blade texture is very boring...looks like you just went render->clouds in photoshop.
The bird and reptilian wings don't look like wings at all. If you're going for any semblance of realism, you shouldn't aim for "near representation" in your design, you should aim for exact representation. Does the blade have wings? Then give the blade wings.
The same goes for the body. It represents a human body, sure. It's got arms, legs, a torso, an abdomen, etc. But it doesn't really look like one.
I'd dive deep into some anatomy studies if I were you. 2D and 3D. You really should try your hardest in making this a great design. Don't settle for less....you'll just waste time making a sub-par character.

Thanks for the crits. I know I have to work on the wings and the blade texture and that model didn't look much like a human being. I worked on it a bit more and have finished most of the armor. The pelvis and buttocks still need work, however. I'm also going to adjust the rest of the model as well.

Better, but it suffers from crappy feet syndrome, even if he's wearing boots, they have to be shaped like a foot ;). Keep at it.
