Hey guys.

Ive ben working at a friends home for some time now with C4D.I've learned my way around the program(I had Maya and 3DS background so that wasn't a very hard task...:) )Here's where it all begins:

I've just been hired on a fulltime basis to do 3d modelling/texturing.The department where I'll do all the work does not have a 3D software package yet...so I've been asked to provide a "solution".Of course...I've suggested Cinema4D, but the boss is asking why not Maya or 3DS, cuz they're so popular....I've explained a few things to him(pricing and all...)I've convinced him to buy C4D for the department.

1. The problem is that when I've been asked for a price, I said around 800 euros(acording to the Maxon site that is the C4D 10 price), but since I've never own the package, I didn't know that GI and Caustics are only possible if you have AR. I will need GI(on almost every scene..) so Advanced Render is a must.My question is how much will it cost (I've searched the Maxon site and I can't find a price for AR anywhere...).Buying the XL bundle is kinda out of the question since is double the price I've told my boss...I'll need to build some architectural interior designs so I won't be needing Mocca, TP or anything else besides AR).
And talking about price..what the heck is the VAT tax? Will that be added anyway, even if I have a reseller in my country?
2. The department has only Mac's but I'm used to PC's.I've agreed to work on a Mac, but I would like to know what are the differences between C4d on a PC and C4d on a Mac.I've searched the forum and I found some threads about AR on Mac and about the fact that is a little "behind" than the PC version..Is this correct?

I know these questions should have been directed towards the people at Maxon, and I will probably do that too, but I want to have your input on this matter.
Cheers and thanks in advance

I think there is no difference between the mac and PC-version. Long time the OpenGL perfomance was very poor on mac, but not any more.
About prices. You can also buy a sidegrade if you own some other 3D software (even Bryce will do the trick). Check out the orderpage and save some money!
VAT is obligatory for any customer, but if you buy it for the company you will get it returned from your local tax-office.

If I'm wrong someone will correct me.

Cheers,

odo

AR is EUR 487,20 inc VAT. It includes GI, caustics, Sky, Pyrocluster, etc.

There's no difference at all between the PC and Mac versions of C4D afaik.
