After I got some advices from friends in this forum like crayztalk and Terro. Finally, I determine to purchase one for me. But I'm a little bit confused between 2 versions, those are Painter 9 and Painter 9.5. I don't know what different between them. 'Cause some students in Grant MacEwan(Art college, which I want to study after I graduate English as a Second language) willing to sell Painter 9 at 125CAD without Painter handbook. If I want version 9.5, I have to pay more than that ^"^ but I will have Painter handbook. So my question is that what painter handbook is about??? and what different between 9 and 9.5??

Thank you again :D

(I annoy you guys too much eh :D)

Hi Giap,

If you buy yourself a copy of Painter IX, then you can download an update to IX.5 for free from Corel. So either way, you won't loose on functionality.

On the 'Painter Handbook': As far as I know, this one only comes with the boxed Painter version and is different from the online help and electronic (pdf) manual. It contains a brief introduction to Painter and then a couple of nice tutorials by renowned Painter artists. It's a nice little book, but I'm not sure if it is really worth the additional money for you.

Hope this helps :)

I purchased 9 and was able to upgrade to 9.5 for free from the corels website.

My most biggest improvement in 9.5 over 9 is the addition of the univeral eraser. In version 9 you had to use a watercolor eraser to delete digital watercolors, and a standard eraser to delete normal brushes. In 9.5 they implemented 1 eraser that does that automaticcally.

With that said, I still use the manual erasers found in the catogories, but once in a while the new eraser is nice for a quick fixer up.

Hope this helps, and welcome to the Painter Gang.
