Hi all, I have an animation of a flag blowing gently in the breeze...
cloth fx has become my friend.. hehehe bout time i figured it out..
anyway, i need to loop this animation...
any ideas on matching the first frame deformation with the last?
i am thinking morphs, but i have never played with them... any tips or pointers would be great!

you could use the cloth results as a guide....

then 'save transformed object' on the first frame...then each pint where it looked good...then load those ojects up back over in modelr and use them as morphs...you can use the morph bg object to pick them if needs be...note that save transformed will triangulate any subpatched object if the subpatches in the viewport are set higher than 1 [or maybe zero...can't remember!]

once you have your morphs set up...

you can load your new object with it's endomorphs indise...add morph mixer and then go add each morph and end with the same morph as the first...that should loop now..

sos about the typos...it's late!

thanks cresshead
don't worry about the typos, my typing is crap at the best of times.

i will post my results this afternoon...
thanks for the tips :)

ok, here is the result..
a fairly nice loop over 60 frames but now down to 30...
the flag couldn't flap too much, as there will be information displayed on the flag that has to be legible. so thanks again cresshead.
anyway, for those that may be wondering how it was done...
pretty much as stated earlier..
created an animated flag using clothfx and 2 wind object to get the motion i wanted.
then saved motion file,
then at the frames i wanted saved transobject, (i saved about 20 different deformations)
then saved transobject without cloth deformation as the object had been moved and positioned.
then opend all the transobjects in modeller.
copied and pasted one frame at a time into the background layer of the non deformed object.
created x amount of morphs, then for each morph, save bkgrd as morph.
saved object... loaded into flag scene, matched position etc, cleared old flag, and then went the hack with morph mixer...
all up, about an hour of fiddling.

do a search here or SpinQuad, there was a post about how to do this with fewer steps I believe....too early in the morning for me to remember correctly... ;)
