Hi there !
As you can see I'm new so let's introduce myself: I'm a 16 years old guy, living in Bordeaux (yes, the french wine city) and doing my last year at the "regular" school. I would like to show you a little something I did yesterday afternoon, my first real matte in fact.

I've also made a little WIP: http://narmorhin.free.fr/we/Matte%20Painting%201/WIP.jpg

Hope I'll receive good critics to improve myself.

I've got also old things, about 1 or 2 years old I think:

and something I'm working on:

Thanks for having payed attention,

PS: Hope my english is not too bad, I'm working on it so do not esitate to rectify me.

Hi there,

cool Idea, fog is cool, but cut it on the right side (on the rocks).
What you can do, to improve the picture, is:

1.) The green under the monastry is to bright, play a bit with selective color (use settings-layer).

2.) Monastry is to bright too.

3.) The upper rocks look unnatural, because in reality plants don't grow from up to down like this, try to flip it.

So, that's it, I don't have nothing to criti... ehm, damn, my english is poor.

So go on, because it is already cool for now.

First of all, thanks for the reply

I'll do all of this when I'll have time, that'st to say tomorrow. But for the 3):
"The upper rocks look unnatural, because in reality plants don't grow from up to down like this, try to flip it."

In fact it IS aleready fliped, and that's why it doesn't seem natural: it the same rocks as in the left corner, flip horizontally and vertically. I'll see how can I make this better.

Tanks again for the crits, it helps me going on !

hi bruno , welcome to this forums

well about your first matte, I think you need a specific mood, lighting in each photo you used is totally different and in the final matte painting is confusing cause you don't know where the keylight is, also the colors you are using don't have a specific goal , try working in a mood that tells the viewer what 's the feeling of the whole image, a cool sunset or is this really early in the morning?

well matte painting is complicated you have to know lots of theory stuff before even starting, my suggestion is, that you visit the tutorials section inside this matte painitng forum, and see the practical tutorials as well as the theorical ones, I will look forward to see your improvement
