I was a little bit tired of seeing my models only on screen. I wanted to FEEl the creature I thought of for this challenge.

And as I don't have the money to buy an 3D Plotter ;) I decided to try modelling a maquette with super sculpey.
At first I made a rough wire skeleton, then I wrapped aluminium foil around it to get an impression of the shape.

I'm now covering it with sculpey.

Sorry, I don't have a name or background story yet...

thats awesome
can someone tell me where to get the material you used to make this?
i'm from Austria/Vienna and I've already searched for it.all i could find was some white modelling clay but that one isn't any good you can't add good details and its starting to show little tears all over the body while drying
its also kinda impossible to get smooth surfaces with the one i found.
HELP :(
I hope its ok that im asking you these questions in your LOTR topic
anyway.the designs is looking really good and the sculpture is coming along really nice as well

That's what I'm wondering. Sculpey's expensive. It's not going to break the bank or anything, but I just hate the idea of such tiny little packets costing so much... but then again I'm very stingy....

Very nice sculpture, btw. but the competition is more than half way through. Get to the modelling already! :p

Thanks to you all! @Leigh: close-up is coming tomorrow when I finished it...

Here's my story

MUSKRONS spend most of the day wandering the vast heathes far in the East of Middle Earth, grazing. They live in small herds of 5 to 10 animals (usually mothers with children; male Muskrons wander alone). A herd needs a very large territory - an adult Muskron eats several football pitches a day!

They are much sought-after by merchants because a caravan of Muskrons promises wealth: they can carry tons of goods and guardian troops.

But only few men of the plain-clans have the gift of speaking to Muskrons. This secret is passed from father to son: it is said a man can tame merely one in his life. And this man is the only one who can control it...
