Here is a fire test I did some time ago, I'm sort of rethinking this idea, and was wondering what others have come up with for semi real, or photo real fire. Anyone have some cool fire?!

I think the shader you've setup is beautiful - but the 'flickering' in the top portion of the flame seems to break the illustion... it's almost like a strobe light.

One thing you may also want to consider is the source of the flames... Kinda looks like charcoal - in which case I think the flames are a bit too tall.

Yeah, The source of the flames is from the well known

This was more a test, but I agree with your thoughts.

Try turning up your sim rate scale so the fire moves more quickly. You could all so play with some higher frequency grid based texturing to add more subtle details :)

that test looks great - i've also been going through zgrachan.com
tutorials - in your test, are the pieces of charcoal emitting, or is there seperate emitters with the charcoal colliding? also, any tips on how you got the shader looking so nice?
