Is there anybody out there could explain me in a few words what does "edge looping" modelling means?

The original and best link, I keep finding printout sof that in all my boxes and such as I unpack, I wonder how many times I printed it....

hmm wish I had thought of that well I may need to move again soon, so this time I'll use the extras ;) Right now I have left unpacking as it will only make more work for me soon.
