The Matte Object in the Compositing tag (new in 9.6 I think) would seem to be very useful. Except that when I try to use an object which has variable transparency or alpha (using a noise shader) my output alpha channel shows only white or black where the Matte object is.
Is the matte object only suitable for rendering opaque objects against?
