i have a scene with a bunch of particles like dust motes in an atmosphere. i created them by placing a volume emitter in the area i want and playing it forward till it filled up with enough particles. it looks PERFECT! since this render is for a still i want to freeze this moment in time and preserve it forever, such that i could open the scene again and render it from a different angle or whatever, without having to play through the sim to the right frame and hope it solves the same etc. how do i do this? i'm a newbie to maya particles but i know the program in general, so if you could bear that in mind when you respond thatd help. tips much appreciated. if it helps anyone be excited to respond, heres the scene:

The solution is quite simple. Stop where you want to freeze the simulation, go to Solvers>initial state> and set for All, or the particle system you have selected.
Go to frame 1 and you particles should keep their position. Delete the emitter, because this will continue to emmit particles otherwise.
To stop the particles motion, try putting the dynamics conserve to 0
good luck
