View Full Version : Viewport Clipping or ARGH!
Eudaimic 03-20-2002, 07:07 PM When I move my perspective view port too close to an object, it starts removing the geometry closest to the 'camera'. And it's REALLY annoying :( Is there any setting for this at all?

Seems like I got around this by scaling my objects larger. I was working at the 1 unit = 1inch size, but when you get down to making things that are pretty small, the clipping happens.
My work around has been to multiply everything by ten. So if I'm modeling an object that's supposed to be 12 inches, I make it 120 units. This keeps things simple and overcomes that clipping problem --though I wish Max would deal with real world units better.

turn on viewport clipping.
In the Right side of the viewport is there some pointers, the one at the bottom, drag it as long down as you can !!

Aaaahhh, THAT helped :D
Now if only someone could tell me why there seems to be a difference in how you pan your scene around sometimes (middle mouse button and drag). Sometimes it's REALLY sensitive, othertimes it's REALLY unsensitive... I don't get it.
The panning issue results because it is (as TheDevil[DK] pointed out) all relative to scene scale.
If you have gigantic object then Max will pan very slowly and vice versa.
Try pressing Ctrl whilst panning
