Title: The Landing
Name: Mogens Skjold Overbeck
Country: Denmark
Software: Photoshop

A Spacecraft landing on a desolate planet. Ahem.. Ignoring the fact that the pilots would have trouble disembarking onto glowing hot molten lava, I was going more for a graphic effect than realism on this one :)

This was done for a cover illustration for a video game, over 6 hours (yeah.. sometimes those deadlines can really be a pain in the backside). A 3d model was used for reference for the ship, everything else was painted in Photoshop.

Cool looking land & space-scape!

The spaceship doesn't appear very exciting (but that's a design issue that sounds like was out of your hands). And what you say, they are about to land on boiling-liquid-rock... lol.

I like this a lot.

Intresting composition, and great contrast of warm and cold colours. Nice jet blast and ship design too.

fRenziedMIND : thanks for your comments =) I'm afraid I bear responsibility for the spaceship design as well as the rest of it ^_^ Oh well, "neither industrial designer nor concept artist be". In fairness to myself i *have* done more interesting ship concepts, but it was a bit of a rush job, I was hoping to just make it interesting in the painting phase :)

AndyH: cheers dude, glad to hear that. I'm a fan of your stuff so back at you =)
