View Full Version : combining objects in modeller
bangiepangie 10-23-2006, 07:08 PM I purchased a model aircraft which came in the form of a layout and also multiple modeller files. When I bring the items into modeller they all show as individual components. What I want to do is save all the parts as one model after making a couple of mods.
I know this may sound like a stupid question but how do you 'combine' all the individual bits together in modeller so you see the whole model, not just a wheel, wing etc, then save the 'complete' model?
Is there any experienced modeller out there who can put me out of my misery?
Thanks.

copy and paste all layers into one layer.

That doesent seem to work. Is there any way to 'export' a layout file into a modeller file? Otherwise, all I have is about 24 separate modeller files which will only load in separately.

Short: do as Pete said :)
Long : select all layers (use layer browser if there are too many layers) and copy or cut them and select an empty layer and paste.

This seems to say it'll do what you want, but I've not tried it so I can't be sure:-
One Click Scene to Object (GN, MD)
v1.0.1 * 08-OCT-05 * (update!)
- Easily collapse selected objects into a single .lwo file
(saved transformed, collapsed into single layer, reloaded into scene)

Try View------Layers-------More-------Flatten Layers
Next time, you can try this one:
http://www.dstorm.co.jp/english/plugin/modeler.htm#LoadObjectsFromScene
Open Modeler, select the plugin then load the scene. Loads each scene object into a separate layer. Very handy.

'Very handy' is an understatement, that plug in is the answer to all my problems! Many, many thanks.
You're most welcome; glad to help.
