View Full Version : How to make a soft effect of light petals?
benio33 10-23-2006, 05:29 PM Hi,
could anyone give me a hint how to make a soft effekt of petals like the ones on the flower here http://www.christnet.cz/pohlednice/ecards/priroda/jablon.jpg ?
The thing is sss shaders don't do the work ... or I messed up something :(
Regards,
Benio

What 3d application and renderer do you plan on using. And yes, some sort of SSS shader is probably the way to go.

Naturally (stupid me) ... sorry, I'm using Maya, and plan on using software render or mental ray. I tried sss shaders and they did PART of the job, but the shadows and transparency were not what I expected ... I just gave up having a result od a soap rather then a petal.

Sorry, I'm not a maya user so can't help you with the specifics of whatever sss shader you're using. Good luck!

it sounds like you might need to put a shadow transparency shader on your material to get the effect you're looking for. or perhaps just turn shadows down or off.
