"Three-dimensional digital worlds and the world of William Shakespeare--it's hard to imagine two more disparate universes.
But bridging the gap between them is exactly what Edward Castronova (http://dw.com.com/redir?destUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fmiles.ucs.indiana.edu%2F%257Eiuinfot%2Fasset%2Fpage%2Fnormal%2F589.html&siteId=3&oId=2100-1043-6127294&ontId=1040&lop=nl.ex), an associate professor of telecommunications at Indiana University and the leading expert on the economies of virtual worlds, is doing.

On Thursday, the MacArthur Foundation (http://dw.com.com/redir?destUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.macfound.org%2Fsite%2Fc.lkLXJ8MQKrH%2Fb.855229%2Fk.CC2B%2FHome.htm&siteId=3&oId=2100-1043-6127294&ontId=1040&lop=nl.ex) is expected to announce a $240,000 grant to Castronova and his team to build "Arden: The World of Shakespeare," a massively multiplayer online game, or MMO, built entirely around the plays of the Bard. Shakespere is great and all (I personally think his literature is boring) but to make an mmo around it..?
Perhaps it could work, but there is also the issue of a million other mmo's coming out. Why buy Shakespere the MMO when you could buy the next WoW or Warhammer MMO?

The children will decide, and most definately it won't be Shakespere.

If everyone RPs it well, I could see it being fun for a while.

being a Shakespeare junkie I'd say GO! Anything really to make people see that it's a fascinating world full of equally fascinating characters rather than yet another yellow pages; tons of characters but no plot...

However, I cannot really imagine people going for that title... they have Arden editions at school why spend your free time on one, whatever the form?!
