Title: KONG "SYLVESTER"
Name: Peter Aversten
Country: Sweden
Software: Maya, Photoshop, Shake, ZBrush

From a commercial we did, Its for a gaysite here in sweden and the ape doesent go for the girl in the end. We was aming for the 1933 look so I animated in stop motionstyle on two,s.
I modeled the Ape using maya and rendered with mentalray, I used shake to comp.

The commercial was awarded a ROY award here in sweden recently in the category best animation and special effects
with the motivation " With great feeling and expertise the winner has manage to combine technique and idea to a perfect film"
pardon my translation from swedish

The idea was on Patrik Forsbergs behalf
The commercial was directed by Mauricio Molinari
The DOP was Paul Evans
And I did the Animation and special effects..

Hope you like it... And take a look at the final movie and behind the scenes below:

Great! Especially the bit where Kong first appears looks neat, very similar to the original.

From start to finnish about a month but it was a lowbudget project cause we funded the production so when higher prio project came up, it got higher prio The project realy came to be cause Patrik at our work won a competition here in sweden regarding companies or organisations that dident have exposure on tv so basicaly we won tv time but sylvester itself did not have the money to fund the shoot and effects so we did it ourself for them just for the sake of it. We have most of the camera equipent inhouse so it was just the people during the shooting day and my time that realy costed in the end but it was quite fun....

Cheers

That was great, you did a really good job of making Kong look like he was animated with stop motion!

I forgot for a second that you were recreating the old kong, I saw the expression and though it could be way better (and having the rest of the work as reference also though you could do it a lot better). Now I remember what the target was, so it´s fine! Nice work man! :)
