Sounds unbelievable. If this is true Nvidia is about to have a very bad year. ATI will be beating a corpse with the R350.

eh, its all just a big power struggle with no means...........sure they can come out with the Nvidia Geforce FX TNT Pro Rage II XI 9800 running at 3ghz with 15gb of 10ghz flowthru ram and software will still be developed to run on a 1ghz comp, with a 64 meg geforce 2 or higher.......and 256mb of system ram .......
until the demand is there it doesnt really matter if the Radeon is 1000x as fast as the nvidia and makes toast and coffee for you in the morning.......there still wont be any software developed to take fulll advantage of the technology for another 5 years!!!!
although it would be nice to have it made me breakfast in the morning.....if ATI offered that i would consider it ;)
or if it came with a monkey

I got some software that demands it... Maya with a scene opened with a couple million polys and several mb of 2k textures.

but its still not taking full advantage of the card...........you could be doing per pixel shading, real time bump, spec, (fake) reflection..........in the work window.
but AW still hasnt implemented these features entirely yet. And i dont think its gonna be any time soon that you will be able to utilize that much power properly..............there isnt even any software out there to properly use 8x agp.
all im saying is, people are too eager to get the next "best" thing............and that article is saying things like, people that ordered their nvidia cards should cancel their order.......why??? even if the new card is 10x faster, your not gonna see the results until the next wave of cards hits anyway.........technology being sold is always a few versions ahead of what is needed.

I wonder what kind of blow they really mean...
It seems more of a blow to their supremacy on the videocard market (read: their oversized egos) than a financial one.
nVidia posted some statistics a couple of weeks ago that stated that the Ti series (their top of the line cards) are just responsible for a meagere 2% of their income. I'm guessing it's the same for Ati. Most people just buy (or get it delivered with their WallMart cheapo computer) a mx or a card below the 9500 series(which is basically still the old chipset)
So, i read these articles usually laughing.
sod the card's performance, ATI need to sort out their drivers first...

Thing is, even if you don't buy the fastest card out there, people are going to go with the company that HAS the fastest card, in other words it affects their decisions on what card to buy, which cards get picked up and showed off by companies like Dell or Alienware, etc. So 2% of their profits excite 90% of the people to fork over the other 98%. =)
