Title: Female model - Studio Lighting
Name: Dermot Murphy
Country: United Kingdom
Software: 3ds max, mental ray, Photoshop
This is a piece I have been working on for a while now, I have
finally got around to finishing one image, Studio Lighting.
I first set out to use this as test model to learn mental ray
and other technical plugins for hair and such. The model is
created with polygon modelling in Max 8.
I used Photoshop for colour correction and adding small details
to polish the piece. Hope you like!

The face looks perfect, but I would say the rose-collar and the earring look somewhat photoshopped. You could replace them with 'original' 3d models, or just simply remove them.
some very fine work Dermot well done I realy like your image plenty of stars.
:) very nice texture and lighting.

Whoa nice render top notch but I have to agree you should model some items instead of using photoshop, but other than that I looks like top row to me, very good loos like a "gitana" heard of it? a gipsy

excellent image-i like the details, like the hairs on the ear,
there is something a bit off with the part of the image where the right eye is..
cant say what though...
anyways, great work

I agree with the previous posts! Great job! I don't think the eye is the problem though... Is the earlobe a bit too large? Maybe that is what makes the eyes seem a bit off. Don't know. Anyways a SUPERB image. That's photorealism. 5*

Very good!
Finally a cg female that looks not like a supermodel :) ...i love the texture and this fine wrinkles.
On the left side the set off of woman and background ist not enough.

Very nice amount of realism. For Critique;
the light source in the hair is odd and overbearing, if light source is that bright behind the ear there would be more of a SSS/translucence on the ear.
The earring wouldn't have a dull halo around it or leave any shadow I would think due to the light source casting bright rays on her neck in that specific area,
skin and hair are well done except where her hair is seen underneath her ear lobe in the image,
her upper lip has unrealistic highlights (so it seems) either from the color or lightness of the tone.
This images could be very photo realistic if some of the lighting was more realistic and the photoshop details weren't over worked/excessive.
Edited for spelling/typos.

Thanks for your crits.
The earring and necklace are Photoshopped in, I originally had a different earring but changed it at the last minute. The necklace and flower were never finished in mesh so I edited them, though I see your point with the look of them, I was a bit dubious about them myself, if I get time I may build them properly. Some very good points too chillnlikeamug.
Here are some wire images
Ow man! Great image!
Can you explain how you do this lightinig or ilumination?
Thanks

I think she looks great. I love the more subtle details. The only thing that really bugs me is the model of the ear. The anatomy of that ear is just not very realistic to me. Other than that it looks fantastic.
