Hello leigh I have a question for you.
First of all very very thanks for that texturing workshop they were really top notch advises, they also cleared many of my doubts. You stressed more on painting texture yourself rather using procedural maps, I also personally believe that you are right.
But the problem is that I have basic knowledge of colors for eg. Primary, secondary, shade, tint, warmer , cooler…..& other basic color stuff. Is it possible to paint very good texture with that little knowledge of colors.
So what all things / knowledge you feel is necessary so that I can paint my own textures without any problems.
Do u have plan to start a workshop on colors.

Well, I have always thought that extensive colour theory and all that, while extremely important in graphic design/DTP, isn't really all that important in 3D. Well, not in visual effects, in any case.

That is simply because when we texture stuff for 3D, we are usually recreating things that we see around us, so it is simply a matter of copying colours.

As I mentioned before, in all manners of design, especially in the repro business and web design, knowing colour theory is essential. But since we are merely recreating life, all we need to do is look around us for the colours.

I certainly don't make use of any extensive colour theory when I paint textures
