Author now grateful for hit from God
`Veggie Tales' creator had sunk low along with company before seeing new light ahead of him

The man who has sold 50 million children's videos isn't presiding over a Nickelodeon soundstage or leading a production meeting at Pixar.

In the upstairs of an old home in downtown Wheaton that shares space with a real estate agent, "Veggie Tales" creator Phil Vischer is explaining how his empire crashed, burned and moved on without him--and how he's OK with that.

Agreed, that was interesting. I'm a Christian, and a fan of Vegetales, but I wasn't aware of those things. Good on him for seeing what's important in life.

Thanks for the link.

I always thought Veggie Tales was very unique in many ways and was a great idea! It even appeared on the Simpsons in an indirect subtle form as many things do.

It was great because it was a christian themed show, and taught christian lessons, but was really clever and funny, and wasn't afraid to just be completely random.

you all talk as if it doesn't exist any more. I've worked on several episodes and I caught it on tv the other day. They're mostly straight to dvd though

It doesn't really exist anymore, not like it did anyway. I know they are still making videos, but if the creator of the series isn't involved as the creator, it's obviously something different now.

Hey unchikun,

Thanks for the links, it was a facinating read. I've always wondered what happened to that company.
