View Full Version : Da New Guy... 3 items of finished art
ZaonDude 03-20-2002, 01:52 PM I redid three of my art pieces and added detail to make them hi-res enough for large 34x23 inch Posters (http://www.zazzle.com/link.asp?associate=ZAONDIGITAL&redirect=contributor&contributor=ZAON+DIGITAL&product%5Ftype=posters) on quality heavyweight paper or canvas. If you'd like to get a poster, go here (http://www.zazzle.com/link.asp?associate=ZAONDIGITAL&redirect=contributor&contributor=ZAON+DIGITAL&product%5Ftype=posters).
Here's some "thumbnails" of these huge 3450x2300 pixel resolution posters, displayed at 1/4 their actual resolution:
( let me know what ya think! :-) )

SPACE IS NEVER WRONG!
:p
I LOVE the "Caveat Emptor". Briliant details. Very nice lighting on all of them.
I think you could put some ground crews on the "awaiting orders" pic.
other than that... nothing exept MAKE MORE! I´d love to see more than one ship in the same picture. (a battle maybee?)

They look really good
nice details
only thing that got my attention is the last image, it all looks a bit too duplicated.
You should add some that makes it a bit less duplicated, like boxes, people running around, tools. Maybe make some of the ships a bit dirty and add some skratches.
Just a tip ;)
Otherwise, really neat images! :D

wew wonderful work!!!
only thing that seems odd to me is ...
the 'awaiting orders' fighter's cocpits, they look like plastic. maybe you can change this somehow... dunno how though :D
anyways great work.

yearhh.. Real nice. But if I had to point a finger on anything it would be that on the 2 1st pictures the meshes (like planets and spacecrafts) has too much shininess. Whit the last picture I also must say that its way to copy paste:.. How about making some tags on the ships.. U know each pilot has his own tag :D
beside these small things its a real great pic. :scream: respect :D

Hey there,
Nice texture work on all three. While the composition of the first two lean a bit toward the cliche side, I really like the layout of "Awaiting Orders". It definitely has a "fresher" feel to it. I like that you have most of the people in the upper right corner. I had to look for them, but I think that's part of the appeal of that image. You know there's something going on or about to go on and you expect some people getting things ready. The people and transport in the upper right show that something is starting to happen and help to add tension to it all. Nice job!
Keep up the good work, Zaon.

Thanks, guys... yeah, the 'awaiting orders' pic was sorta hurried... It was the last of the three images of mine that I was converting into a poster size... It started out as this original image I did last year: http://www.zaon.com/beta/images/ZAON_Ships_Imperial_Battlefighter.html
I definitely should'a put more tools and other misc randomness around the scene.
I also sorta rushed the cockpit glass. The original picture I linked above was rendered with max's scanline, and the new one was done in Brazil. And, since the current public alpha of Brazil doesn't handle some material types, I had to redo the cockpit glass using the brazil test mat, and, well, I hurried ;-)
Also, for you sci-fi fans out there, I'm having trouble deciding on a weapons format for this type of art come my battlescene animations... I discussed my troubles on deciding here: http://zaon.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=165
If ya don't wan to register there, feel free to post here ;-)
