Hi fellows .... im searching for a velvet material to apply to a "Wedding Ring box" .. im using 3d max 4 .... please help me ..

think oren-nayar is a good shading model for velvet fabrics
try high roughness and higher then 100 diff.level settings..
perpendicular falloff on diff. or spec. level is good for generating
a retroreflective look..

ok..i tried with oren-nayar..... but its not that much realistic......
can u give a good tutorial .....??

Well, i just wanna tell u that try to make your material by yourself..which means use photoshop a lot..Simple!

Brazil comes with a velvet shader, and it works outside of brazil if you don't want to use brazil to do your rendering (although I always recommend giving brazil a try, because it's a fantastic renderer). visit http://www.splutterfish.com and download rio.
