View Full Version : brick problem
copain 10-20-2006, 12:04 PM Hi
I am working on a scene with brick walls.
Using a tileable brick texture in Photoshop, but still getting a repetitive pattern.
Can anyone tell me how to fix or prevent this when making it?
Thx

Hi!
The tool is fine but a bit of photoshop work will solve the problem easily. I had the same problem before and that's what I did, it takes literally ten minutes.
1) tile the texture onto a large canvas, let's say as big as to contain the original one 4 times.
2) copy an paste areas (with the clone tool, or copying feathering the edges etc) so to obtain a non repetitive pattern
3) use the tile filter in photoshop to check that it tiles correctly and in case make the necessary corrections
4) reduce the result to the original dimension (if you have a budget) and make the contrast between dark and light areas less evident (for this, you can use the dodge tool or the levels..)
Now it should tile fine. :)

hey monica,
I got a good texture out of the tool, with just the colors i wanted.
Will now go into Photoshop for the dirt layers and will keep these tips in mind.
Thanks
