View Full Version : Question: Subobject selection
Hookflash 02-05-2003, 06:25 AM Is it possible to select a group of subobjects based on a selection of subobjects of a different type? For example, I'd like to select a ring of edges, and then switch to poly subobject mode and have a loop of polys selected based on the edge-ring. Thanks

Yes, but you'l need meshtools 2.5
You can convert poly selections to edge, verts to edges, and so forth. Works like a charm...I have no idea how i'd live without it.
Hope that helped.

It seems so weird to me that none of this stuff was included in max 5. I figured they were going to add all the MeshTools stuff, but instead it's like they added a very stripped down version.

Yeah...I'm with you. Plus, meshtools 3 is just lacking in features...nothing new.
So it's back to using meshtools 2.5, CSPolytools, and max 5's new features. Sort of sucks. But it still all works which is good.

Also check the quad menu for polys in Max 5; upper left menu has two entries for converting a selection to a differnent subobject.
