Hi there,
i am making my first character animation and ive just hit a snag. I modelled my character but when i bring it in as a reference i cannot move layers around, i cannot delete the reference, it comes up with an error cannot delete read only node, i can't rename anything. What have i done wrong, should i have certain options checked when i reference the model?

Thanks guys and girls

kind regards brent

hi,
just to reassure, did u try to remove reference from the reference editor?
if no pls try... because we usually get a error when we try to delete a referenced item directly in the scene...

// Error: Cannot delete read-only node

but u can push items into layers or grp the referenced nodes.. etc. I think its not possilble to delete a referenced node, may be you try to merge/import items into the scene from the ref editor and then delete the items which are not needed...

You can't rename referenced objects, unparent objects with reference parents, alter the keyframes of reference objects whose keyframes were made in the source file, delete reference objects, unlock locked attributes or rename reference objects and render layers.

You can unload, remove or import objects from reference. You can also parent the top node of your reference to other things, duplicate objects from a reference or change the namespace in the editor. If you need to do something like renaming objects, unlocking attributes, reparenting, renaming layers in a reference file either import the objects of the reference in the editor or change the master file (not a very good idea though, if you have certain things already animated in scenes and if you want to rename those objects. Be sure to back up your original file before overwriting it, just in case.)
