Hi guys, I was just wondering if there was a way to select CVs in a CV curve and combine them... sort of like merging vertices in polygons. thanks for the help!

Nurbs are much different from Polys, and I guess there is no way directly merge CVs. (unless there is some script at Highend3d I dont know about) You can only add them where needed and delete where you don't need them.

Depends on your case if you need to close curve, or in other words merge end CVs, then you go Edit Curves>>Open/Close Curve.

If you need to "merge" neighboring CVs then you need just insert one inbetween the two and then delete them both. (hope its not confusing):hmm:

well crap. :)

See, here's the problem: I created a CV curve and when I wanted a CV to be harder, I clicked several times in the same spot, but later noticed that one was just slightly out of line. I can snap them together, but the geometry is still a little weird. With polys, you merge those guys together and it's fixed. I understand what you're saying about inserting one between and deleting the 2 surrounding cvs, but then the middle one won't stay sharp. Increasing the CV hardness hasn't worked so far -- do you know why that might not work?

Thanks for the help, Mickley!

Well, this problem have been following me even since the good old ALIAS PA. and as you ( or someone ) said you cant merge them.. The only trick I know of here is to place them really really close together BUT not ontop each other ( that is, ZOOM in like a madman and do your trick ).
Sorry, but that comes with the advantages of nurbs..

I was afraid you would say that, but I was hoping maybe there was some little tool I'd overlooked! Well, thanks for the info :)

Here's a quick way to create a 'hard' CV for a curve without having to mess around with the CV positions themselves:

Create two curves, with their endpoints together and then Edit Curves/Attach Curves (). Then, Connect as method and Keep for multiple knots.

itīs pretty bad since alias didnīt tranfered the multiplicity tool into maya --- but if you just want a hard edge you can break the tanget of a surface and turn off the multiplicity in the harden curve blah tool box
