This is my first major school assingment (vfs). The project was to creat a cyborg-animal. This was modeled in Softimage XSI and textured in Photoshop. It took me about 4 days to complete it.

I'd love to hear any critz or comments.

Nice to hear from you again, Chi.

They haven't tought us texturing yet. I just sort of slapped the texture together with what I figured out on my own.(and with some help from the class in the term ahead of me:thumbsup: ) When I get to school tomorrow I'll post a wireframe pic of it. The head looks a little ruff because of the rushed textureing job ( spicificaly the displasement map) It looks alot better in wire frame.

Hey!
Very nice concept there, there are a few thigs tho.
Can you try to add some shadow to it? I think it'll have much effect on the picture, for example in the mouth, the light in there is too bright. And maybe you could turn down the specular color.

looks good but you need to domore work on the parts that are combined between the skin and the metal.

man if you havn't learned texturing yet why would you try to mess around with displacement maps....did the profect require texture..or was it just modeling? wire would be good

The project didn't require any texturing. I just did it to see if I could do it. You know; play around with the settings, push buttons at random, see what does what. The real reason I got into it was to see how easy/hard it would be to unwrap a mesh for texturing. I think for my first time doing it I did alright. The way I look at it is I can only get better.

P.S. I'll get that wireframe version posted by about 10 tonight. I should have some more time then. (been rather busy with more assignments)

The rerar leg doesn't appear to attatch prperly. Also when showing models, I wouldn't do the textures man, YOur at VFS, be patient they will teach you a lot, for now I would look at using what extra time you have to improving your models, and maybe lighting them better to show off how good they are, alwyas have shadows, and prefereably three lights Main, Fill and Rim

Nice to see some work, who knows I may be out in Vancouver sooner than you think.

Im no 3D expert, but i do suggest you use some softer light sources, and at least 2 at different angles. Should increase the realism a whole lot.

Thanxs alot for all the advice. I still have 2 more days till I have to hand it in so I might have time to tweek the model and the lighting some more.

P.S.
To Chi and Kaiskai,

If you would like, I could send you some of my 2D line test.
(flour sack, bouncing ball, whip) Send me a p.m. if your interested.
