View Full Version : Realflow3 and C4D 10 ?
soioartist 10-18-2006, 06:37 PM hi everybody
soon i'll be a proud user of cinema 4d (i ordered it but have not recieved it yet). in the meantime i've been playing with the demo and was wondering if RF3 and CD 10 work together, because i was unable to install the RF3 plugins. has anybody been able to get C4D 10 work together with the RF3 plugin (for C4D 9.xxx)?
regards
simon

Hi,
Works fine for me just gave it a quick test with no problems. I'm using the V8-9 plugin from Nextlimit which i downloaded an age ago. No sign of the plugs on the new RF4 site though:sad:
Cheers,
Colin

Yes -- at least the main one ([NL] RealFlow Mesh loader v1.0) does. Haven't tried the RF4 plugin yet, but I imagine it would as well.
Hope this helps....

thanks a lot for the answers!
still, when i put the plugin files in the plugin folder of c4d and start the application i get a blank plugin menu!
perhaps i should mention that i'm on mac and i'm currently using the c4d release 10 demo.
oje!
another hint for an absolute c4d beginner...?

the rf3 and rf4 plugins are the same ones, they didnt update them (sigh).
http://www.nextlimit.com/realflow/html/download/plugins.html thats the link for the plugins if you wanted to download them. The newer c4d version has been known to have a bug where animation doesnt get export from c4d to rf, but either than that, you should be able to use a v8.5 plugin, heck, i do.

They *have* released the RF4 cinema 4d plugin -- I've got it and have used it (in R9 anyway).
From their FAQ:
"10. Where can I get the plugins? They are located in the same web you downloaded the demo from."
I don't remember specifically, but I guess that's where I got it. They're a little bit different, but work more or less the same.
The page listed above is the old plugin page that, indeed, only has the old RF3 plugins.

perhaps it's a platform issue? i run C4D r10 on OSX, downloaded the plugins and put them in the appropriate directory - but my plugin menu in C4D remains blank...
any ideas?

i had a similar problem. My guess is that the rf3 plug in works in ppc version of c4d only. Are you running under macintel? Could be that.

no i'm using a g5 dual powerpc. but the C4D (release 10 / demo) is a universal binary application, right?
cheers

Yep, that's probably why the older plugins aren't working. I'm hoping they'll recompile for R10/UB/64bit (I can dream, can't I?) -- they seem to be *fairly* on the ball. They actually have 4 pages of instruction in the RF4 docs about how to use the cinema exporter, and some gotcha's as well....
