I dont know of any books out now for Zbrush. I took the pixologic user guide to work and printed it out and it fills 2 massive ring binders so I wouldnt recommend that unless you have a lot of ink and space to spare

If you want to learn DVDs are definetly the way to go. I dont think organic sculpting can really be described well in a book, its something you have to see

The introduction to Zbrush from Gnomon is essential viewing, I would also recommend anatomical sculpting and detailing characters, these dvds will save you weeks of pissing around

Thanks guys!

I'm going to a course now, but will also get the Gnomon dvds, everybody says they are good.
And will wait for that book.
I attended also an anatomy course in the spring, which was fantastic, so I just have to piece all this together now........gasp!
This forum helps a lot, too.
Cheers!

Hey Monica, Dvd's are the way to go I've learnt alot from them, also the practical guide I'd be lost without it.

I was at my local book store browsing books seeing if some of the 3d books are worth buying.

Well I looked threw this book called Polygonal Modeling: Basic and Advanced Techniques
the first half is basic stuff but the rest of the book has intro to Zbrush using imported tools and makeing charicters with Zspheres. Now I am not a modaler but I do like zbrush and I have two of the Gnomon DVD by Meats Meier. But just skiming thrue from what I can tell it covers the same things Introduction to Zbrush DVD has.

It might be in youer borders book shop to skim thru.

Hey Monica, don't forget about www.ZBrush.info (http://www.ZBrush.info). All of our documentation is there. The practical guide, zmapper... Its all there in wiki form. :)

Its also searchable and user editable.

Best,

Ryan

Hi Ryan!

Thanks a lot ;)
I'm looking forward to start seriously, I made a human model in Maya and it's waiting for detailing etc, can't wait!
Next time will start from scratch directly in Zbrush with Zspheres (baby steps...)

hey alchemist101

anatomical sculpting

detailing characters
http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/dvds/asi03.html

are these the two dvd's you are talking about?
i am busy doing some self study now on z-brush
so are these the ones you spoke of?
are they good?
i went through most z scripts, but its a bit fragmented in terms of trying to develop a work flow approach
so i wanna maybe get a dvd or two to learn it better
so do you think these two will sort me out?
i want to model characters mostly :)
thanks
