View Full Version : I Need Modeling Advice

I am modleling a Zoid model for school and i want to know the best way to go about doing it. I will need both nurbs and Polygons due to the vast different shapes and curves. Please give me advice

read the book, and search online for tutorials.

cuz if youre teacher sucks, your basically on your own, unless you have patient talented school mates.

I am basicly the best one on maya and i am better than my teacher so he can't really help and i know how to model already so the book doesn't really do anything for me

Uh, I'm not sure what a Zoid is. If you mean those post-spocalyptic cyber animal toys, here's my advice:

Stick with polygons in this case. You can make angles shapes rather easily, and if you need smooth, more organic shapes, just model a low poly version and goto Polygon->Smooth. All the tools you'll need are Extrude, Smooth, and Split-Polygon.

And out yeah, just start out with a poly cube.

If you're going to animate it, I suggest group geometry and then putting it into hierarchies. If you're going to use bones, then do a rigid bind.

I will try doing that and i will let you know if it works out but i haven't done rigid bind animation so i will have to learn that because i was planning on making it fight with another one and they kind of need to be animated
P.S. the descripion of what you think a zoid is is just about right okay :p
