I was playing with max's driver settings, and I checked the box where it says "Use double plane" something like that... , and I had Open GL running, and as soon as I checked that box Max crashed. Now, I reinstalled Max on totaly diferent drive, and i choose software as a driver it works fine, but then again I put it on Open GL it crashes (Doh! I forgoth to uncheck that box) and now I have to reinstall it again to make it work. Now my question is, is there a way to choose a diferent driver by not starting Max, because it just crashes at start. You know, when you install the Max first time it asks you what do you want to run it on, yeah, I want that screen back, and Max remembers all of my previous settings even when I reinstall it, why? How to get setting to default?

3dsmax.exe -h

Switch Effect
-c othercui Starts program using othercui.cui instead of maxstart.cui.
-d Causes Track View to use a double-buffered display, which is smoother than the single-buffered display but uses more system resources.
-g Makes background white (instead of gray) in the following dialogs: Track View, RAM Player, Video Post, Loft, and Falloff Curve. Useful for screen captures when using a display mode less than 24 bits deep, for avoiding background patterns.
-h Allows choice of graphics drivers: Heidi, Open GL, Direct3D, and Custom.
-i otherfile Starts program using otherfile.ini instead of 3dsmax.ini.
-l Loads the last .max file automatically.
-ma Open maximized.
-mi Open minimized.
-n Disables network mode.
-p otherfile Starts program using otherfile.ini instead of plugin.ini.
-q Starts program "quietly," without the splash screen.
-s Starts program in server mode.
-u Opens utility.
-v Loads a display driver. See details following, under "Using the −V Option."
-z Writes version number to file. See details following, under "Using the −Z Option."
anyscene Starts program and opens a file called anyscene.max.

 Did that really work... seems like the max reference say same thing twice to me... check this out aswell

You use the -V option to load a different display driver at startup. This option overrides the setting in 3dsmax.ini.

Follow the -V with one of these letters for the driver you want to use:

s: Loads software Z-Buffer.

o: Loads OpenGL.

d: Loads Direct3D.

n: Loads null driver.

For example, if you ordinarily run OpenGL and want to switch to Software Z-Buffer for a session, you would enter: 3dsmax −vs
