Does a 7900GX2 card is better than a simple 7900 card in 3D Software ?

I mean I know that SLI mode works only on 3d game and, wasn't used at the full performance in 3d Software. As you know if you launch your Maya or Modo on a double GPU SLI station, it does the same FPS as a single GPU station.

What's going on with the GX2 card that Combine 2 card in one ?

It's the same. It's just an SLI solution that only needs one slot, you get the same advantages as from using two 7900 cards.

7900 GTO that is. (Basically a GTX card with slower ram. Faster then a 7900 GT, and a 7950GT)

thanks for your comment, but does there is some benchmark about the FPS under MAYA / Modo /3dsmax / Lightwave with some of these GFX Cards ?

Then, can anyone explain why Nvidia just released the quadro plex 1000"??? That's just some quadro SLI videocards, right? Don't you think multiGPU cards or SLI mobos can help to raise the FPS count while animating on a 3D software?

I'm trying to discuss this on another thread:
