I dont really like the way i have to work with painter because its like trying to paint in a tiny room filled with annoying work all around you.

Im allways on the look for a nicer clean GUI and so far photoshop is the only true clean workspace... BUT I JUST LIKE PAINTER T_T

This is the best layout i just can work right now, this and when i get annoyed i just hit TAB and get all the screen to work... but i hide my brushes as well =S

What i hate the most is that every tab has a HUGE waste of space. just look at the brushes... its 5mm between each icon, plus the 5mm margin top and botttom plus the rezise bar.. its just a HUGE nasty clumsy waste of space

Why dont they do something like this (at least) its far more better and can hold three times more icons 9_9

But Here is my ideal painter GUI where you only see what you need and can pop out of the way what you dont need, also the basic tools SHOULD be sticked/locked down to a thiner bar at either side of the screen.
One thing i DO hate is the annoying moving around of that freaking bar.. its allways in the way... i resently hide that and use keyboard shortcuts if i need sertain basic tools.

So here is the graphic GUI i would like to see ^__^

YESH.. this is my personal rant about painter -_-.. but it is just possible to do something like this T_T

It looks like you're using Windows, but not WinXP Home like I am. Maybe you can still do this, though:

Change your Display to Windows Classic Style and that large space between your brush icons will go away.

Click the Custom Palette name to contract the Custom Palette when you're not using it and it'll only take up a few pixels across the top of your screen.

Use keyboard shortcuts to open the top palette in a group of docked palettes and all of the palettes in that docked group will open at once.

Then, when you hit the Tab key to close all palettes at once, all you need to do to open some of the palettes is to use the appropriate keyboard shortcut (i.e. for the Layers group or for the Colors group).

I totally agree! I'm working at 1600x1200 and there's a lot space wasted.

Trust me: buy another display, and all your problems will be gone (the palettes in the left one, the picture in the right one).

I have 2 screens, but I always end up working on one and keep the second switched off.
I don't know why, I never felt it comfortable...

Same Here, its even worst than the cluttered painter GUI. I didnt use my second monitor after not really liking the "workflow", and it blew the red channel just because of inactivity XD.

Now, i would really like a huge monitor and a better GUI ^__^.

It's really so simple, workspace (Canvas) on one side, Palettes on second monitor. I use this for Painter, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Although I do keep my Toolbar, brushes and controls on the bottom of my screen underneath my canvas. Very uncluttered that way and very easy to get to.
