skellybobbly 02-04-2003, 10:10 PM Hi,
Here's a recently completed animation. Created in max to prototype a facial rig idea I'd been working on.

hehehe i like that wee dude:thumbsup:
It looks good, loads of characher in the body and the face. The only thing i couldn't quite see was the at the start with the 'Go' i'm not sure if the mouth moved correctly for the 'o' sound. i got the feeling it was a but stiff or somthing.
Maybe it is just the angle and speed of his head turning.
well done though, looks very good....:applause: :applause:

Thanks for the comments people...
I've had reports of my site running slow.
If anyone wants to view the anim it's best to right click and save first.
There's a lower res version here:
http://www.blowtorch.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/animation/FHeadthatway.mov
It's 1.8 megs.

Nice work!
There's something odd with the walk though, however it could just be the character. His upper body seemed to heave into the step forward, and his legs just hopped.
I guess I'd have to see more (hint) to decide whether I liked it or not, but I think it could be a quirky little walk for him!

I thought the character movement was fine. It seems to me that the animation on the mouth is not as extreme as it could be. I think the mouth should close more as it is forming the words. As it is now it's a bit like watching something that is dubbed from another language.

Not bad,
moves nice and more than believable, so OK
just the eyes, they don't look at us when you want him too,
for example; the first frame: he looks besides me, and he 'focals' too far behind the spectator(all the time),
and it won't do putting the look-at on the camera,
ad a list controller to correct them over the lookat-rotations manually!!

the phrase that it is synced to is really funny. I feel that the mouth could have more expression, it seems to be lagging behind the audio very slightly, however that might just be the SlowTime...er...QuickTime compression that you used.
The eyes to do seem to be drifting around a lot.

The body movement is great, and I love the secondary action on the ears.
Only critique I have is the same as everyone else. The eyes are not exactly doing what they should be. However I like at the end when he says "turn" the eyes look away for a second and come back.
Looking good.

great anim style
the expressions are cool comic style
just the psychodelic texturing is a little bir overdone
... for my taste

Hi People,
Thanks for the comments.
The eyes definitely need sorting out some of the looking around was deliberate and some by accident!:)
I agree too that some of the expressions aren't as extreme as they could be, this is due to it being my first attempt at a facial rig and also some mesh issues.
I've since remodelled the character head based on Bay Raitts edgeloop technique and it looks a lot better and will be easier to rig and animate. The downside of this is that it needs reweighting now.:annoyed:
I plan to do more with the character at some point..but at the moment I'm working on a cgtalk challenge animation.
Once again thanks
