ok, yeah..it's tight but one should have been able to squeeze them in there..
if the snap-click plastic things on the MB would have matched the way
the fans are supposed to be mounted.. dear god, cant one sew MB manufacturers for
making crappy non-standard footings.. or maybe there is no standard..
ye olde epoxy to the rescue..

That particular motherboard does not support 3rd party fans, at least not on one of the sockets. Its because MSI tried to stuff what should have been on an EATX layout into an ATX layout. So the CPU sockets are unnaturally close to eachother. Kinda makes it difficult to add a second fan :)
MSI should have taken a queue from Tyan's layout, which supports a broader range of coolers while still maintaining ATX form factor. Then again, MSI is not as experienced in multi socket layouts as Tyan ;)

figures.. that's what you get for cheaping out on hardware..
well, changing MB is not financially viable at the moment so unless i can do some kind
of custom fitting for these zalman's, i'll just have to live with causing myself and
everyone at work tinnitus and headaches..

Well one of the CPU sockets should be able to use a standard sized HSF so you could at least get one. Then look for a smaller HSF that has a better chance of fitting, for the other CPU.

HSF? hi-speed fan..?
um.. yeah, well the space isnt really the problem here, they fit even though it's tight..
the problem is the black plastic snap/click sockets that youre supposed to attach the fan to.. the fan has its attachment in the middle whereas the corresponding on the MB has
holes in each corner..
like this..

HSF = heatsink fan (more or less it refers to the whole unit, not just the fan..)
There are some HSFs out there that will use a different mounting bracket than the one on the motherboard. Those may be an option. Assuming they're not too large, noting the proximity of the socket to the PCIe slot...
