CGTalk - Special Effects

Hey Everyone!!

I'm really into Smallville and Charmed and such, I want to replicate some of the effects in these shows. I was wondering if someone could tell me any useful programs or preferably plugins and if you feel like it, optimal settings for a good look. I've played around with some stuff rendered out from max and composited in After Effects, I'm just wondering about other effects and techniques.

Thanks. These are pretty basic AE tutorials though. I'm thinking more advanced stuff. Particle effects, tracking all that good stuff.. Any ideas?

Hi

Have you tried particle illusion? Combustion has it as its particle fx. I think it's much better than AE's particle payground.

Hey. Yeah I saw particles Illusion it looks quite good. I have combustion and it produces a lot of really good effects. I don't think I'd use it as my primary compositor though as my computer can barely run it lol.
