View Full Version : reusing 2d/3d placement but with new image
Hi all, I know there must be a simple way to "reuse" textureplacement nodes like project an image and them add a transparancy file that uses the previously placement node insteda of reposition a new placement node but sofar Im blind..

just duplicate them
(and then connect them to the new file in node)
cheers

yepp, thx, that was one way... I will go with that couse Im in a hurry with this one BUT I have A LOT ( soon over 70 ) of placementnodes and it starts to get confusing just looking at them so I still hold my breath that someone tells me that somehow I can use ONE node to place all the rest in position but maybe my way of thinking is way off..
THX alexx, saved me some hours there...

or just simply connect the same 2d/3d placement node to both images in hypershade. I assume all of these images (color, transparency, bump etc) are all in the same texture. If so, the 2d/3d placementnode will allow you to make multiple connections to other image files in a texture.

Yeahh, jasonA, ( and Alexx ) thats what I was thinking about but hey, Im not that at home in this part of maya.. in hypershade yes I get my enormous shader with all those nodes and all them "arrows" binding it all together, but HOW do I "disconnect and reconect so I end up with what you so nicely explained, ONE placementnode ???
I have these curves but when trying to "move"/ rearange I dont know what to connect to what and most of the time end up with the connection editor and still I cant figure out what it is Im suppose to look for/ connect..
Maybe a reeely newbie thing this, but I soon have no hair left so please.... meanwhile I do the alexx way wich is quite straight forward and I understand what I do but ONE node would be the dream so.....
thx again and a big/huge clap on the shoulder from sweden

ok.. to disconnect:
just select the arrows by dragging over them and hit delete.
to reconnect (tex placement to file or 2d shader):
control drag (that will create default connection without connection editor or popup win

my god, thats basic shit... Im in shame, delete the arrows, yepp, Im not only blind but more or less stupid as well to miss that one..
THX, Im on my way and a happy way it is... now I can animate ONE node and not 67 and I can maybe go to bed tonite... =)
cheers!!!
