Hi all,
I try to do a model with a live film in the background,
the problem is that with mentalray i cant get the shadows right on the ground(the ground is with a use background shader).

I get the shadow + a cut-out shadow of the background of the camera color view.
like if the background is black i will get a black cutout, Blue- a blue cut out...and so...

I know i can render the shadows seperat with the maya render, but then i wont get the color blending that mentalray give on the ground.

Does someone have a solution for this?

Thanks

i think i dont really understand the problem but there is a very easy way getting the shadows out of maya:

go to the render globals and enable global passes and then just turn on the shadow pass (turn off the default beauty pass).
that will render out shadows only without you to have to care about use background shaders or so)

cheers

Do your blending in the comp.

One of the many things comping's good for and gives you more flexibility that having to go back and render, re-render, re-render...
