Hey guys and gals;
These are from another of our various recently completed projects at Hatch Studios Ltd. (http://www.hatchstudios.net)
These are a set of fourteen backgrounds created for the agency Ben Simon Burns. They were developed for the new 2006 version of the highly-successful anti-smoking campaign website commissioned by the Government of Ontario.
The website featuring the backgrounds can be found at:
http://www.stupid.ca
Each of the rooms were color graded in a specific hue to reflect the mood and atmosphere of the environment.
Here are some of the final renders:

Nice! A really good job you made. I like the design and the rendering/lightning.
Nice job!
I'm not sure anyone else said this but I have one crit on your main image, the stool which has fallen on the ground should have both legs touching. It is currently tilted and only one foot is touching the ground. If it just fell over and hasn't settled it is possible but since this is a still image it stood out for me.

Well... Iīm sorry to disagree with the majority but I have some critics:
1. The overall ambient light of each image doesnīt fit with their light sources in terms of color, intensity and light/shadow contrast making the images look artificial. I mean, in every scene there are always a white artificial light (lamps on the roof) and a yellow natural light comming from the window but in every scene there is a dominant ambient red/green/blue/purple/yellow color taht doesnīt fit with the sources in any way. Also that ambient color is very intense, reducing the contrast between shadows and light making the image look too "bright"
2. Textures could be much more worked (I donīt know how much time you had to do this so I wonīt go into this)
3. Some models have an extremelly sharped edge, try adding a little bevel to make them look less "3D".
The composition and complexity of the scenes is good. Please, thake these as constructive critics.
Keep it up! :)

I really enjoyed this. ...The contrasting saturation values, the strong element of light, and the great achievement of fabricated randomness all flow together seemlessly to make each a strong composition in its own right. Great work...thanks for showing.

Hi there Richard,
First of all congrats on the images, very cartoon stylish renderes I must say BUT, I have some question I'd like you to answer. Hopefully you will...
1. Are there actual lights in those rooms or those neon lights are lightemitting materials
2. How long did that render ? Because if those neon light are lightemitting materials, it was alooooot of time, judging from the quality of the shadows, I take it was very long.
Thank you.

LIghting is great....
but in the image with sun coming though the window, the light from the flourescents should not be so prominent with that much sunlight coming through the window (enough to create so much reflective and secondary light).
Thanks for the great work though, nice to look at.
