Title: Cadian soldier
Name: André Wahlgren
Country: Sweden
Software: Maya, Photoshop, ZBrush
A soldier based on the multiple cadian designs from the Warhammer 40k universe.
This was my first ever attempt on human modeling and also my first serious attempt working with normalmaps and next gen specs.

Dont want to edit the above post in case it messes stuff up. I hope the renders look ok. My screen is very bright so the ones i posted in my WIP-thread was to dark. Ive tried to adjust that though.
Anyway, this was a big learning experience for me and i now feel like ive gotten a better grasp of character modeling. A basic understanding if you so will :)
Ive done a few things backwards, hindsight you know. I also know there are a few mistakes here and there but still. Im fairly proud of the outcome :)
EDIT: I know some of you didnt like the pose i have. I have adjusted his legs a little bit but its pretty much the same. I needed a pose that could show most of his body and him hiding behind a wall wouldnt really work.
So in the end i went with one of the "standard" warhammer 40 k miniature poses.

You know I love it. ;)
I am pretty fond of the black and white version(s) as well, I find it easier to see the fabric textures on his clothes that way.
The last touchups really did make a difference, and the final result is awesome. Good job.

This is really cool. I remember seeing it a while back but never go around to posting a comment

interesting that you would reply to this. I will tweak the lighting, materials and renders in a few days in preparation for the portfolio im setting up.
I have a new computer now that will help me alot more when it comes to these stages and ive noticed a few errors in the images you see above.
So yeah, i might post some new images here later :)
