I started to model a violin today. Made in maya. Mix of nurbs and polys so far. Preliminary textures! Any comments?:bounce:

Ok!

Now I have added the neck and the scroll to the model. Also did some more texture work as well as added the strings. Comments?

Guntharf!

Center of the body isn't too scaled?

Do you mean that the center should bulge out more? If that is what you mean, then yes I am working on it. I'll show you tomorrow.

I am sorry, I just picked the violin for its shape. I really don't know anything about them. What is the gras??

But I did compare it to a picture of a violin in maya to make sure the measurements were right. But I don't know, maby it was a picture of a 7/11 violin. I'll try and find a Stradivarius tomorrow.

Thanks for your comments guys!

Added the bridge and the knobs to adjust the strings. Also made the hole in the scroll where the strings attaches to the knobs! Almost done with it. Just have some small details and some size adjustments left.

Thanks for your comments guys!!:buttrock:

Very nice!! I love the wood texture! The sides are very rich. It looks like an old violin someone may have hanging around.

The head piece could use to have sharper edges. Right now it looks pretty round and makes me think it is a cheap violin.

Great work! I would love to see your shader network for the wood.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for all your help guys!:buttrock:

You might want to increase the number of your subdivisions, i'm still able to see hard edges
